The first part of this book is a description of the life of a boy, a younger and a mature man at pre-revolutionary Russia, then in the period of the revolution and finally under Soviet rule. As a boy, the hero lives in the village of the Caucasus mountains and desperately try to get an education. As a young man, he is a cavalryman of the Red Army and fight for the equality and freedom of all the peoples of the Russian Empire. His hopes are cruelly deceived, the USSR is in the grip of Stalin terror. As a geologist, he works in the boundless Kazakh steppes. Three times he is betrayed by his closest friend, and three times he barely escapes execution in the dungeons of the KGB.The second part describes the life and misadventures of his daughter during the World War II and after the victory. She is severely punished at school for disrespect for the “adored” leader - Stalin. Later - University, and work of students in cotton fields of Uzbekistan, then meeting with bandits and rapists, and salvation by a “murderer and knight”.The third part consists from 8 different stories: The fate of the girl, whose father was shot during the time of the terrible Stalinist terror. The fatal love and despair of one young woman. Love, hope, disillusion, and meeting with a famous dissident. The fate of a young Jewish woman during the war, the flight with two children to Siberia,  and long trips through the vast snow-covered territories as a paramedic. The passion and love of a young man, his desire and inability to get some accommodation for the family and unexpected resolution of all the problems. The sad story of the baron and his daughters during the revolution. The history of a talented doctor, her meeting with the leader of the revolution, and the flight from the USSR. The last story is the emigration from the USSR to America of a young family and related to this event misadventure and adventure.  3
