El tema de la discapacidad abre la discusión por ciertas minorías consideradas 'diferentes' que se fueron visibilizando y en las que, en muchos casos no existe patología, sino una condición humana distinta. ¿Cómo impacta en el grupo familiar el nacimiento de un niño con Síndrome de Down? Este sufrimiento que conlleva sentimientos de rechazo hacia el infante, va a formar parte de su subjetividad, que comienza a construirse desde el mismo momento del nacimiento. El impacto tanático va a obstaculizar el advenimiento del sujeto y/o agregar patología. Este libro se refiere al abordaje terapéutico vincular de estas familias, con el objetivo de desmarcar al niño del lugar del 'designado paciente' para no dificultar su devenir como sujeto. Luego de un recorrido histórico que incluye pueblos originarios, que nos aportan otras miradas, tomamos conceptualizaciones del psicoanálisis vincular: la historia, los vínculos y la idea de un psiquismo abierto, donde nuevas marcas son posibles. Acompañamos con tres viñetas clínicas y un trabajo terapéutico familiar para ilustrar nuestra propuesta. Esta lectura es un aporte al tema, dirigida a profesionales de la salud, educadores y familias.
