De facto, esta é a razão pela qual sabemos pouco sobre a geometria de Bolyai e temos tantas dificuldades em ilustrá-la. Ainda hoje, a geometria de Bolyai só é compreendida por profissionais. Hoje, 180 anos após a sua criação, são feitas muitas afirmações inexactas sobre ela. Por exemplo, encontramos coisas como: 'a geometria de Bolyai, onde as paralelas se encontram' ou 'a geometria de Bolyai é realizada na Pseudoesfera' ou 'um arquiteto construiu uma igreja no mundo com base na geometria de Bolyai' e assim por diante. Estas afirmações estão erradas!
