Este libro sobre madres y padres con orientaciones sexuales diversas en Colombia integra la teoría y evidencia disponible con los datos que aportó un estudio exploratorio realizado con nueve participantes que se animaron a compartir su vida con el equipo de investigación. A partir de las preguntas más comunes sobre esta población y las relaciones familiares, el libro aporta información relevante y actualizada sobre el tema en un lenguaje sencillo y asequible. En el libro se clarifica el concepto de orientación sexual y se lo distingue de las otras nociones básicas de la sexualidad con las que generalmente se le confunde. A partir de esta precisión conceptual se abordan preguntas relacionadas con las explicaciones al desarrollo de las orientaciones sexuales diversas, el proceso de salir del clóset, las características de las familias de origen, las relaciones de pareja, las relaciones con hijos e hijas y la importancia de la red de soporte social en la promoción y mantenimiento del bienestar psicológico. El libro, además, incluye herramientas que pueden ser útiles para las personas que están en el proceso de reconocer y aceptar que se identifican con una orientación sexual diversa. También incluye recursos que permiten la reflexión personal, favorecen el autoconocimiento y facilitan el reconocimiento de las creencias infundadas y las actitudes negativas que se asocian con los procesos de estigmatización sexual. Confiamos en que esta publicación sea útil para quienes se interesan por comprender la vivencia de las personas homosexuales y bisexuales quienes, además, son madres o padres.
