Das Buch untersucht die Ursachen, Vertreibungsmuster und Visionen aus künstlerischer und nicht aus rein soziologischer Sicht. Es betrachtet den ostafrikanischen Exilschriftsteller auch als Chronisten seiner persönlichen Autobiografie.
