Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2008 im Fachbereich Politik - Thema: Internationale Organisationen, Note: 1,0, Universität Erfurt, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: In der Präambel und in Kapitel I Artikel 1 der Charta der UN wird die Wahrung des Weltfriedens und der internationalen Sicherheit als zentrales Ziel ausgegeben. In Kapitel I Artikel 2 werden alle Mitglieder ausdrücklich dazu aufgefordert, jede „mit den Zielen der Vereinten Nationen unvereinbare Androhung oder Anwendung von Gewalt' zu unterlassen. Zu dieser Charta haben sich alle 192 Mitgliedsstaaten mit dem Beitritt zur UN bekannt. Demnach dürfte es keine Kriege geben.Allerdings wird der starke Bruch zwischen Geschriebenem und Praktiziertem in diesem Fall deutlich. Das Problem ergibt sich daraus, dass Staatsoberhäupter teilweise ein sehr eingeschränktes Gewaltmonopol über ihre Staatsfläche haben. Nach Angaben der AKUF konnten „2002 mehr als drei Viertel aller Kriege [auf] reine innergesellschaftliche Konflikte' zurückgeführt werden. Davon stellen Antiregimekriege mit 41 Prozent den größten Anteil dar, gefolgt von 32 Prozent Autonomiekriegen. Innergesellschaftliche, ethnische und kulturelle Spannungen und politische Instabilität führen im verstärkten Maß zu gewaltsamen Konflikten. Ein globaler Brennpunkt gewaltsamer Konfliktaustragung ist und war Afrika - neben dem Nahen Osten und Südasien. In Subsahara-Afrika werden aktuell die Hälfte aller UN-Peacekeeping Missionen durchgeführt. Aus diesem Grund sollen im Rahmen die-ser Seminararbeit exemplarisch zwei Friedensmissionen der Vereinten Nationen vorgestellt werden - die erste jemals auf afrikanischem Boden durchgeführte Friedensmission im Kongo und eine aktuell andauernde in Äthiopien und Eritrea. Beginnend wird die Konfliktentstehung durch die Entkolonialisierung Afrikas dargelegt, um der Betrachtung der immensen Konfliktintensität auf dem afrikanischen Kontinent näher zu kommen.
