A violência sexual contra os idosos faz parte dos maus-tratos a idosos, que podem assumir muitas formas. É considerada uma forma invisível de violência que existe nas nossas sociedades, mas que continua a ser subestimada. As Nações Unidas e vários autores consideram que esta violência irá aumentar com o aumento da esperança de vida da população em geral, sendo por isso um problema de saúde pública. A literatura científica internacional ainda não dispõe de muitos estudos. Não encontrámos nenhum estudo francês sobre este assunto. O trabalho aqui apresentado, embora diga respeito a menos de 100 pessoas examinadas ao longo de 13 anos, é um passo para uma melhor compreensão destas situações.
