Zu konstatieren ist ein Trend zur Eventisierung des Lebens in der Gegenwartsgesellschaft schlechthin. Der Begriff „Eventisierung' bezeichnet zum einen die Verspaßung von immer mehr Bereichen unseres sozialen Lebens mit einer bestimmten Art kultureller Erlebnisangebote, zum anderen das Machen konkreter Events - sowohl durch Anreicherung kultureller Traditionsveranstaltungen mit zusätzlichen Verlustierungselementen als auch durch strategische Neuschöpfungen von Unterhaltungsformaten für möglichst viele Menschen. Illustriert wird dieser Befund anhand konkreter Studien zum Weltjugendtag (2005 in Köln), zur Kulturhauptstadt („Metropole Ruhr' 2010) und zur Loveparade - bis hin zu deren düsterem Ende (Duisburg 2010). Die Zeitdiagnose mündet in die Frage, ob (auch) „Eventisierung' möglicherweise ein „Juggernaut' ist.
