La croissance démographique des villes s’accompagne de problèmes environnementaux. L’objectif principal de cette recherche était d’évaluer les impacts environnementaux ayant le plus grand potentiel polluant dans la ville de Juazeiro do Norte, Ceará, entre 2000 et 2015. Le logiciel Google Earth-Pro a été utilisé comme outil d’analyse des problèmes. Au fil des ans, on a observé une évolution croissante du processus d’urbanisation de la ville et, parallèlement, une augmentation des problèmes d’impact sur l’environnement, tels que la réduction des zones vertes, la production de déchets solides, et par conséquent une réduction de la qualité de vie de la population et un déséquilibre des écosystèmes. Par conséquent, le manque de planification urbaine et de politiques publiques visant à organiser et à régulariser l’espace a un impact négatif sur la qualité de l’environnement.
