La gestion des déchets solides biomédicaux (DSBM) constitue un défi environnemental et sanitaire majeur au Cameroun, notamment en raison de la dangerosité des cendres d’incinération. Cette étude, menée au Centre Hospitalier Universitaire de Yaoundé (CHUY), porte sur le traitement et la valorisation de ces cendres comme amendement agricole. La démarche méthodologique s’est articulée autour de trois axes fondamentaux liés aux objectifs spécifiques. Les résultats obtenus révèlent une complexité chimique importante. Au titre du premier objectif, la caractérisation a mis en évidence un pH fortement alcalin de 12,4 et une richesse minérale exceptionnelle avec des teneurs en Calcium (185,4 g/kg), Potassium (42,1 g/kg), Phosphore (12,8 g/kg) et Magnésium (8,2 g/kg). Cependant, la charge métallique dépasse les seuils critiques avec des concentrations en Plomb (1450 mg/kg), Cuivre (210,5 mg/kg), Chrome (85,3 mg/kg) et Cadmium (12,4 mg/kg). Le test TCLP a confirmé cette dangerosité avec un relargage initial de plomb de 4,8 mg/L. Pour le deuxième objectif, le protocole de stabilisation a permis de réduire drastiquement cette mobilité, ramenant le relargage du plomb à 0,8 mg/L, assurant ainsi la conformité aux normes environnementales. Pour le troisième objectif, les essais agronomiques montrent que la formulation F4 (50% cendres + 50% fiente) est la plus performante pour le haricot, induisant une hauteur moyenne de 18,7 cm, une biomasse fraîche de 21,7 g et un développement foliaire de 4,3 feuilles, surpassant le témoin chimique sans présenter de phytotoxicité. En conclusion, ce travail valide la faisabilité de la transformation des cendres biomédicales en engrais stabilisés, offrant une solution durable qui concilie protection de l’environnement et productivité de la culture du haricot au Cameroun.
