Ce livre traite de l’utilisation du dioxyde de carbone comme matière première pour former du méthanol. Dans la société contemporaine, la croissance continue de la population nécessite davantage d’énergie. En conséquence, les concentrations atmosphériques de gaz à effet de serre ont augmenté. Ainsi, les changements climatiques ont eu des répercussions sur les systèmes naturels et humains à l’échelle mondiale. Le recyclage du dioxyde de carbone pour produire du méthanol offre une nouvelle voie viable. À cet égard, la réduction du dioxyde de carbone avec des hydrosilanes sur des organocatalyseurs N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) permet de synthétiser du méthanol à partir du dioxyde de carbone à température ambiante, et le mécanisme de réaction a également été étudié à l’aide d’analyses GC-MS et NMR.
