Este manuscrito representa o estudo teórico de novos materiais orgânicos candidatos baseados no tiofeno e oxatazol para aplicações no campo das células solares orgânicas (tipo BHJ) ou células solares sensibilizadas por corantes (tipo DSSC). Para este fim, as modulações das propriedades electrónicas e ópticas das novas estruturas foram efectuadas por modificação química da cadeia conjugada, quer por substituição, quer por modificação da natureza do doador (D), do aceitador (A) e/ou do comprimento do sistema conjugado π. A novidade deste trabalho reside no facto destes parâmetros chave que controlam as propriedades optoelectrónicas e fotovoltaicas terem permitido propor novos materiais orgânicos com estruturas diversificadas para aplicações fotovoltaicas.
