Les estimations de la biomasse forestière ligneuses aériennes sont nécessaires pour suivre les variations des stocks de Carbone ainsi que pour d’autres fins. Cette étude a été réalisée dans le district de la Tshopo autour de la ville de Kisangani, dans trois villages (Bafwabula, Yambela et Yaoseko). Dans le présent travail, nous nous intéressons au carbone stocké dans la biomasse vivante des forêts naturelles. Ce stock de carbone important à l’échelle du globe est assez mal connu et peu d’étude dans notre région de Kisangani. L’étude de la biomasse permet de quantifier l’impact des activités humaines sur la forêt et d’essayer de mieux comprendre son fonctionnement écologique. L’idée principale pour cette étude est d’estimer le stock de Carbone séquestré dans les différents systèmes d’utilisations de terre. 70 parcelles ont été installées dans les différents types de peuplements (Forêt primaire sur sol hydromorphe, forêt primaire sur terre ferme, forêt secondaire, plantation d’hévéa, jachère et champs). 3716 individus de plante ont été échantillonnés à partir d’un DHP allant de 5 à 175 cm, auquel 1142 individus à Bafwabula, 1248 à Yambela et 1326 à Yaoseko.
