Um estudo retrospetivo que incluiu doentes com hepatite viral crónica B submetidos a biópsia hepática: Foram incluídos 96 doentes com hepatite viral crónica B investigados por biópsia hepática, com idades compreendidas entre os 18 e os 61 anos, com uma média de idade de 32,7±10,7 anos. Os doentes eram predominantemente do sexo masculino, com um rácio entre sexos de 1,46. O número de doentes com esteatose confirmada histologicamente foi de 19, ou seja, 27,5% da população geral. O IMC foi significativamente diferente entre os dois grupos no nosso estudo (p=0,007); os doentes com excesso de peso eram mais propensos a desenvolver esteatose durante infecções B crónicas.
