Ce volume constitue la seconde et dernière partie de l’anthologie des œuvres de Victor Bettencourt (1875-1946), important meneur des mouvements catholiques de la première moitié du XXe siècle en France et en Normandie. Notable du département de la Seine-Inférieure, Victor Bettencourt est en effet frappé par les progrès d’idéologies qu’il qualifie de matérialistes et qu’il juge néfastes pour l’avenir de la France et de la civilisation chrétienne. De 1901 à sa mort, il ne cesse de militer dans les mouvements associatifs catholiques et d’écrire brochures et articles de presse pour mobiliser ses coreligionnaires et diffuser ses idées. Le premier tome de ses oeuvres rassemblait ses textes en rapport avec son engagement associatif. Tout en s’inscrivant dans la continuité du livre Pour la France et la civilisation chrétienne (L’Harmattan, 2024) à travers les quatre essais reproduits dans cette édition, ce second tome met davantage l’accent sur le point de vue de Victor Bettencourt sur la situation politique et géopolitique en France et en Europe, en particulier à partir de 1939.
