Si bien es cierto que el comportamiento violento debe observarse a la luz de su implicación para la supervivencia y, quizás, pueda verse históricamente justificado en contextos geográficos y socio - culturales específicos, también lo es que muchas veces sus presentaciones sobrepasan su valor de supervivencia y se han convertido precisamente en una manifestación generalizadamente asumida como una simple tendencia a la destrucción y al daño de la propia especie. Desde el inicio de la humanidad, los hombres han procurado el desarrollo de las formas más brutales de acabar con aquel percibido como enemigo. Los conflictos tienden a resolverse con contragolpes aplastantes, al más puro estilo de Hiroshima. Estas situaciones son solo ejemplos que hacen evidente la necesidad de seguir investigando sobre las causas del comportamiento violento, su estructura y los procesos psicológicos asociados a él.
