平常愛唱帝王戲的阿Q請求陰間牛頭馬面幫忙，得以逆向托生，先後成為秦始皇、漢武帝，使他親身感受兩級社會的天淵之別，見識權力中心對人性的腐蝕，對家庭親情的摧殘，並穿插毛澤東時代悲劇。最後的阿Q忍無可忍，甘願下十八層地獄為眼前的罪惡贖罪，意外與吳媽青梅竹馬、終成眷屬。與意識流小說相似，保持原有記憶的阿Q借秦皇漢武耳目參預皇宮歷史，不能指揮他們身體，但偶而可以插嘴，造成閱讀興趣，並把歷史與當今生活做近距離對照。(書後附有作者個人極為罕見的人生境遇故事)李柚聲於1970年畢業於北京協和醫科大學，1983年於英國劍橋大學以特別優異成績獲得博士學位，此後在國內外做醫學研究多年，發表長短論文三十餘篇。李柚聲在中學時曾發表短篇故事小說兩篇，晚年重新撿起寫作愛好，開始研讀道家哲學，提出遺傳編碼的原初社會與人造二級社會的概念，認為中國戰國前主要社會生活層面是原初社會，儒道兩家均以原初社會為理想。這一兩級社會理論對解釋中西文化差異以及人類文明史據有重要意義，也是一個據有廣闊開拓前景的顛覆性議題，有待學術界同人的進一步研究。 李柚聲出版書目： 1，You-Sheng Li: A New Interpretation of Chinese Taoist Philosophy:An Anthropological/Psychological View.
