L’épistaxis est une des urgences les plus fréquentes en oto-rhino-laryngologie (ORL). Elle est le plus souvent banale mais elle peut être grave mettant en jeux le pronostic vital. Cette gravité peut être due à son abondance ou sa répétition. Plusieurs facteurs peuvent influencer la gravité de l’épistaxis dont le terrain, l’étiologie et la nature de la prise en charge. Le rôle du clinicien est important dans la présomption des formes dangereuses d’épistaxis initiale ou secondaire et d’initier une prise en charge précoce, complète et efficace afin d’améliorer le pronostic.
