Los ensayos periodisticos de Laguerre presentan la sociedad puertorriqueña vista desde la perspectiva del ciudadano común. Enfocando la situación social del 30 y 40, manifestada en los grupos sociales, crisis económica, política pública y cotidianidad de la población en general. A su vez abre las puertas al análisis de las transformaciones sociales y culturales del Puerto Rico del siglo XX contrastando y validando los hechos a través de fuentes oficiales y documentos inéditos de la época.
