Este libro recopila una gran diversidad de fuentes, prácticas y escenarios para reconstruir las principales actividades de Mateu Orfila: hombre de ciencia, experimentador, médico, profesor, administrador, experto forense y artista musical. Dichas fuentes son analizadas desde las perspectivas que ofrecen los nuevos trabajos sobre historia de la medicina forense y las relaciones entre ciencia, justicia y poder. Se pretende así, a través de la figura de Mateu Orfila, familiarizar al lector con los contenidos de las recientes investigaciones en estudios históricos y sociales de la ciencia, la tecnología y la medicina.
