In short lyrics with playful, jazzy rhythms, these poems explore facets of the human experience of time, from impatience and anticipation to remembrance, wonder, aging, and a sense of mortality. Many of them engage with the natural world: birds, animals, insects, and a variety of trees. Often intimate, they range from reflective seriousness to outright goofiness, sometimes indulging these extremes but more often playing them together. These are short poems to be read and reread, preferably out loud.
