James Froude was the brother in law of Charles Kingsley. He began his literary career by writing reviews and historical essays, with only sporadic publications on religious topics, for Fraser’s Magazine and the Westminster Review. Froude spent 20 years working on his History of England. His style is more dramatic than scientific.
