Uno de los rasgos más notables del panorama político-intelectual de las décadas de 1960 y 1970 en Chile fue el desarrollo de un proceso de acercamiento e intercambio entre el cristianismo y el marxismo por quienes veían en muchas de las proposiciones del marxismo una vía legítima para transformar la sociedad chilena y emprender en conjunto la construcción del socialismo entendido como una opción con contenidos afines al Evangelio.Lo que este libro busca es reconstruir el tránsito político-intelectual de la relación entre cristianismo y marxismo en Chile, desde el inicio del Gobierno de la Democracia Cristiana en 1964, hasta la fundación de Cristianos por el Socialismo en 1971, interpretándolo como una faceta ilustrativa del proceso de secularización característico del catolicismo del periodo, expresivo a su vez de una legitimidad social hoy prácticamente inexistente. 10
