Las notas explicativas que al comienzo de cada informe hablan de Hermano Adam en tercera persona, sin indicación alguna del autor, se han transcrito en cursivo.El término strain, que se repite en el título del libro original en referencia a la biología, indica (según el vocabulario Picchi-Hoepli): cepa, tipo, variedad, calidad. Se ha traducido como 'variedad' prestando más atención al término común que al término científico y en muchas ocasiones el termino subespecie se alterna con el término raza. En lugar de utilizar la palabra 'primitiva', en referencia a las colmenas o apiarios, he preferido utilizar la palabra 'tradicional' respetando más las culturas locales.
