In Emerging, through a series of imaginary (some say,'inspired') vignettes, we are drawn into the journey of a weary young girl who keeps moving, but has 'lost heart.' Deeply personal and beautifully truth-revealing conversations with her Heavenly Father bring forth healing to Jane the adult writer, and to the little girl within her. She finds herself 'emerging' from dark confines into 'life on wings.' Following and identifying with her journey may help heal the readers’ inner woundings as well.In the second half of the book, Jane shares samplings of her poetry and paintings created during the 'caterpillar' years. Fresh insights and images of the world of nature and the Word of God will increase one’s love for both. From a childhood in Mississippi, largely spent in the First Baptist Church of Jackson, through college years at Wheaton College (Illinois), and adult life, primarily in New England, Jane Lauber has been a lover of God, of His Word, and of His created world. As an artist, writer, and teacher she has painted, written and taught in retreats, seminars, and Bible studies for many decades.Jane and her husband Burtis (married over 60 years) raised their two children in Stony Brook, New York where Jane taught art in The Stony Brook School. During that time she had a 'one-person' exhibit of her paintings at The Galarie Internationale in New York City.Moving to New Hampshire, they spent over 30 years enjoying life on a farm where the goats, sheep and grandchildren played. Then Parkinson’s disease hit Burt and they moved to South Carolina where Jane could be care-giver to him and to his elderly mother as well. But in 2013 Jane was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer, (although she never smoked) and they moved to Florida to be near family. Here Emerging emerged and Jane’s fight against cancer continues.
