Emboscada en Dallas se puede clasificar dentro del subgénero de la novela histórica, que en ocasiones se acerca al género ensayístico. Su narrativa dibuja los sentimientos y emociones de los personajes de la época. En ese juego de la «Seguridad Nacional», muchos testigos perdieron la vida por el único error de saber demasiado o estar en un lugar equivocado.
