Malcolm Chester ha estado interesado toda su vida en la escritura y la ciencia ficción, sobre lo cual lee con cierta regularidad. Obtuvo una Licenciatura en Ciencias Políticas en una universidad de la Ivy League y una maestría en estudio infantil de una universidad privada en Massachusets a principios de su carrera. Mientras estaba en la universidad se especializo en escritura creativa. Mas adelante en su vida, el autor obtuvo un Doctorado en Jurisprudencia.
