Born into a traveling circus, Elyse the elephant never knew freedom. From the moment she opened her eyes, she was trained to perform-to balance on balls, stand on her head, and obey every command, or face punishment. Though the crowds cheered, Elyse’s life was filled with sorrow. She could only sway on her tethered legs and dream of the wide, green world she’d never seen. One night, after realizing how strong she had grown, Elyse makes a daring decision. She pulls against her ropes with all her might until they snap. Under the cover of darkness, she escapes into a world she’s only imagined-a world of soft grass, birdsong, and the promise of something better. But freedom is complicated. Elyse fears the humans who will try to return her to captivity-unaware that many have been fighting for elephants like her all along. Her escape becomes one more spark in the growing movement to end circus cruelty and protect elephants everywhere.Beautifully illustrated and emotionally compelling, Elephant Eterny is a meaningful children’s book that introduces themes of animal welfare, empathy, and hope. Perfect for classrooms, families, and young readers who love thoughtful stories with heart.
