Aquest llibre versa sobre els metges directors del balneari de la Puda de Montserrat, des que el 1818 fou creada aquesta plaça fins al 1958, any en què fou clausurat el balneari. Durant aquest quasi segle i mig han exercit la direcció mèdica de la Puda vint-i-cinc facultatius, tots ells ben competents, atès que havien hagut de superar unes difícils oposicions. Després d’una breu introducció sobre el balneari de la Puda, de cadascun d’aquests metges se n’ofereix la biografia i s’adjunten, ordenades cronològicament, unes detallades referències documentals que no solament avalen les dades presentades, sinó que també serveixen d’ampliació o de complement a la biografia respectiva. El pròleg l’ha fet el Dr. Pere Miret, de la Reial Acadèmia de Medicina de Catalunya.
