Desweiteren thematisiert sie den Skandal um die Gewerkschaftsbank BAWAG, die sich 2007 mit Arbeiterpensionen verspekuliert hatte. Besonders viele Rentner hatten im Vertrauen auf Rendite ihr Erspartes investiert und anschließend verloren. Jelinek reagierte sofort und noch bevor es zur weltweiten Wirtschaftskrise kam, hatte Jelinek schon das erste Drama darüber verfasst, welches sie zynisch als „Wirtschaftskomödie' tituliert.
