Der Autor entwickelt auf der Basis von sieben Grundsätzen eine umweltorientierte Produktionstheorie. Wichtige Aspekte der Analyse sind die Berücksichtigung thermodynamischer Prinzipien der Stoff- und Energieumwandlung bei der Formulierung von Produktionsmodellen sowie die systemtheoretisch fundierte Modellierung der Dynamiken in Produktionsprozessen unter Verwendung der in der Produktionstheorie bewährten Form der aktivitätsanalytischen Darstellung der Ergebnisse dieser Prozesse. Darüber hinaus lassen sich mit Hilfe dieses Modellansatzes alle Arten der elastischen Kuppelproduktion modellieren und unter ökonomischen sowie ökologischen Zielsetzungen bewerten.
