Si en el Romanticismo la música estableció un franco diálogo con las demás artes y con la cultura en general, en el marco de la reflexión filosófica, en el siglo XX músicos, filósofos, críticos, literatos y artistas siguieron involucrados en esta tarea interdisciplinar. Se recogen en este volumen doce ensayos de Enrico Fubini que profundizan en aspectos como el simbolismo, el futurismo o la dodecafonía. El autor hace una necesaria revisión «dopo Adorno» de las relaciones entre música y filosofía.
