El propósito de este libro es discutir de manera crítica la tesis del autor estadounidense James Hillman, según la cual existe una correspondencia entre el inconsciente, los sueños y el Hades griego. A fin de demostrar dicho vínculo, Hillman fundador de la psicología arquetipal se remonta al origen y principio arquetípico del inconsciente y los sueños, esto es, al Hades griego. Los hallazgos obtenidos permitieron identificar que no es tan preciso afirmar que existe una correspondencia o un vínculo directo entre la concepción de inconsciente en Freud y la imagen del Hades griego. Por el lado de los sueños, si bien Freud retomó de los antiguos el valor que estos le atribuían dentro del devenir humano, se distanció en la manera como entendió los sueños, su formación inconsciente y la técnica para su interpretación. 10
