Este libro debe su existencia a una pregunta y al diálogo auténtico que emerge cada primavera —cuando reiniciamos el curso filosófico— desde la Facultad de Educación UC para una diversa audiencia de estudiantes de todas las carreras de la universidad. En este sentido es un curso sin requisitos, optativo y universal que, además, fue acogido por el Instituto de Filosofía UC para ser dictado a un público más amplio. La pregunta que motiva la reflexión de este ejercicio y que convoca a inquietos y anhelantes estudiantes es: ¿en qué consiste una persona educada? Y como toda buena pregunta filosófica, es posible de responderla desde distintas perspectivas y sin necesidad de una respuesta definitiva. Es una pregunta simple y próxima, también es provocativa y contingente, pero al mismo tiempo ha sido protagonista de la tradición filosófica y puede ser tratada con erudición. Sin embargo, es también una pregunta del presente, es vital, y desafía nuestras imágenes de futuro. Es, por tanto, una interrogante activa y esperamos, con este libro, invitar al lector a ser partícipe de esta conversación consigo mismo, con autores históricos, con sus amigos y, sobre todo, con quienes piensan distinto.
