Barber es un ministro, un consejero de profesional con licencia, y certificado en Tanatología (el estudio especializado de muerte, el morir y el duelo) a través de la Association for Death Education and Counseling (ADEC).Él desempeñó servicios seis años como coordinador de el duelo hospice manera: doce años de facilitador de grupo de apoyo para pena en Dallas, Fort Worth y Arlington; y cuatro años más como el director del asesoramiento y cuidado de la pena para CristianWorks for Children en Dallas.
