Jedes Unternehmen muss die eigenen Ressourcen möglichst effizient einsetzen. Dabei kann Anwendungssoftware unterstützend helfen. Aufgrund der Kostenvorteile gegenüber der Individualsoftware wird dabei häufig auf verfügbare Standardsoftware zurückgegriffen, sofern das Unternehmen sich diese finanziell leisten kann. In dem Buch wird vorausgesetzt, dass die Entscheidung für den Einsatz eines ERP-Systems bereits gefallen ist. Insbesondere sollen sich Dritte mit diesem Buch einen ersten Überblick über die verschiedenen Projektphasen einer Standardsoftwareeinführung verschaffen können. Der Schwerpunkt liegt vor allem im Bereich der vorbereitenden Aufgaben und der Auswahl sowie der Konfiguration des ERP-Systems.
