Die Analyse der aktuellen Lage der öffentlichen Gesundheitspolitik in Bezug auf HIV und die Mundgesundheit zeigt auf internationaler Ebene, dass ein integrierter Ansatz als Strategie zur Prävention von Erkrankungen und zur Förderung der Mundgesundheit gewählt wurde. Diese Strategie definiert eine Reihe von Schritten, Herausforderungen und Handlungsschwerpunkten, die von den Gesundheitsministerien und anderen Akteuren im Gesundheitssektor zu berücksichtigen sind, insbesondere bei der Ausarbeitung oder Aktualisierung der nationalen Strategiepläne gegen HIV/Aids. Um die Entwicklung oder Anpassung von Maßnahmen und Strategien für die Mundgesundheit voranzutreiben und diese in nationale oder lokale Gesundheitsprogramme zu integrieren, wurde ein besonderer Schwerpunkt auf die Stärkung der HIV/Aids-Versorgung durch professionelle Vorsorgeuntersuchungen, Früherkennung, Prävention und Behandlung damit verbundener Munderkrankungen gelegt.
