Dunkle Energie ist eine hypothetische Energieform, die von Physikern vorgeschlagen wird, um zu erklären, warum sich das Universum nicht nur ausdehnt, sondern dies auch noch in einem beschleunigten Tempo tut. Als dominierende Energieform im Kosmos treibt die dunkle Energie die beschleunigte Ausdehnung des Universums an, aber ihre Natur bleibt ein völliges Rätsel. Kurz gesagt:- Die dunkle Energie misst die Ausdehnung des Universums bis vor 11 Milliarden Jahren. - Es handelt sich um eine abstoßende Kraft, die die dominierende Komponente (69,4 %) des Universums ist. Der restliche Teil des Universums besteht aus gewöhnlicher Materie und dunkler Materie. - Im Gegensatz zu beiden Formen der Materie ist sie relativ einheitlich in Zeit und Raum und wirkt innerhalb des von ihr eingenommenen Volumens gravitativ abstoßend, nicht anziehend. - Die Natur der dunklen Energie ist noch immer nicht ganz geklärt.
