这段回忆从1960年北大毕业分配到全国文联开 始，可说朝气蓬勃，意气风发，激情洋溢，充满幻想。先 借到北京电影制片厂写五四运动的电影剧本；写完后， 回到中国曲艺家协会工作到1961年11月，照我的理想 调到长春电影制片厂，先分配到理论研究室，后到总编 室。1962年是我写诗的一年，共在全国报刊发表诗歌 三百首；1963年，先是到河北组稿，后来长影厂为培养 我，让我不带任务回家乡深入生活，我参加了容城县委 工作组，先搞小四清，后搞大四清，到1964年10月，因毛泽东对文艺的两个批示下达，要搞文艺整风，我被调 回长影，原定的三年深入生活告吹。我被长影党委定为 培养的接班人，当了总编辑室的秘书。1965年，因厂的 生产任务需要，我再去河北组稿，4月下河南，带上长 影党委的介绍信，去兰考组织写焦裕禄的电影剧本。为 深入生活，参加了兰考的四清。 这六年是我的创作热潮期。回忆这六年，我无愧于 时光。 1966年2月7日，《人民日报》发表焦裕禄事迹的大 通讯，全国震动，我继续创作《焦裕禄》剧本，不久参加 了文化部的《焦裕禄》剧组。因516通知，文化大革命开 始，剧组解散，此卷结尾。下一卷，便是'我的长影文革 噩梦'了。
