這是一部文學小說。除了真實的歷史事件，所有人名及故事均屬虛構。故事發生於二十世紀的後半部，延伸四十餘年，跨越亞美兩洲。1949 年末，四歲的蘭跟隨母親及姊弟自中國大陸來到台灣與父親重聚。她在物質微薄但愛心滿溢的環境裡成長。大學畢業後，她到美國的 Cornell康乃爾大學繼續攻讀研究所。在那裡和一群同住一屋的五位男性研究生結為好友，他們之間的關係及友誼為她帶來意料之外的苦難及考驗，他們的聰明才智無法避免一個充滿了悲劇的人生。這是一部對人際關係及情感深入探討的文學小說，同時也揭發了多項社會問題。王金城醫師，1970年畢業於國立台灣大學醫學院醫科，1971年底取得Purdue 大學生物碩士學位。她獲有美國小兒科，臨床遺傳學科，及細胞遺傳學科三種醫師專科委員會認證資格。王醫師從事遺傳學工作逾三十年，她在美國科學期刊上發表多項科學文章，也為一本遺傳學參考書著作兩章有關細胞遺傳學的專題解說。2014年九月退休後，開始追尋她終生的寫作興趣。2015年六月出版第一本英文小說 'The Triumphant Life - A Story of Love and Courage'.，現親自翻譯為中文《風雨凱歌行》。  3
