杨心南先生（1903-1980），本名煛，'心南'之名源于先生的笔名'辛难'，而巧合其一生的辛苦艰难--为寻求振兴民族的道路，实现报效国家的理想，走出偏远山寨，到省城求学，又赴省外投身革命大潮，足迹遍及半个中国，还远赴南洋新加坡，与千千万万爱国知识分子一样做了一回'中国梦'，有些梦境后来化为现实，而更多的磨难曲折则成为怅然的记忆。'辛难一梦百年过'如实叙述了先生的个人经历及其家庭故事。心南先生出生于贵州黄平县上塘乡岔河村，因母亲唐氏系瓮安县平艾坝唐家院（今属福泉县）人，故自幼即到平艾坝的瓮安名儒邓国瑜处发蒙就读。1922年，心南先生挑着行李，三天走了三百多里路，到省城求学，考入贵阳师范学校。贵阳师范学校位于次南门的文化路。文化路上书店林立，是贵阳有品位的时尚街坊。新亚书店别出心裁，每周到校门口推销未切边的毛边书，地摊廉价，配以高质量新书，更得到学生的追捧。心南先生跟同时期的青年一样，满怀青春的激情和对社会改进的渴望，学习新文化新知识，曾一度倾向安娜其主义。有先期投奔广州黄埔军校的校友寄来黄埔校刊和其它书籍，引发了他们对外部世界的向往，开始接受孙中山先生三民主义的影响。贵阳师范学校的两任校长尹笃生、邵明轩以及众多优秀教师给学生们树立了学问和品格的榜样。对先生影响较大的还有他的恩师彭述文先生，彭述文先生是贵州第一个革命团体贵州科学会的创办人之一，并参与领导了贵州辛亥革命。
