这本文集中的文章都曾在报刊网站上发表过。它们是多年'读书-思考-写得'过程的产物， 不过多半不是通常意义的书评或读后感。就体裁言，有些近于综述性论文，有些是专题评论，也有急就感言、家居随笔。它们有共性，出自同一背景 渊源。 标题'既耕集'来自一件'历史文物'，一本 黑皮22开硬面抄本。1977年7月，我在插队八年之后被上调到一个县城化工厂当徒工，那时大学招生之门尚未开启。我整理插队年间写的文章， 抄满这个本子。借陶渊明《读山海经》中'既耕且已种，时还读我书'诗句，取名为'既耕集'。在首页写有'前言'，说明这些文章'是在农村那些年实践、学习、思考的产物'。那些文章现在并无实质意义，至多供我作忆旧参照。文末一句感叹， '能够用思维的力量把世界表现为可以理解的东西，是多么好呵！'，体现了我当年追求的一个目 标。这个目标依旧贯穿这里汇集的文章。我对一 些深感关切的出自现实的议题，努力获取知识， 探求理论解答，因此，读书、思辨、梳理成文。这是要以理性去把握世界。
