Niniejsza praca dotyczy koncepcji ciała w dziełach brata Pedro Sinziga, który należał do Zakonu Braci Mniejszych Franciszkanów (OFM): Reminiscencias d’um Frade (1917) i Através dos Romances (1915). Ramy czasowe obejmowały okres od końca XIX wieku do początku XX wieku i są uzasadnione faktem, że był to okres, w którym świat, a także lokalne realia, takie jak Brazylia, doświadczały ciągłych przemian społecznych, politycznych, gospodarczych i kulturowych, zakotwiczonych w rosnącym i jednoczesnym procesie industrializacji, oprócz wzrostu liczby ludności i urbanizacji.
