After her father’s death,she and seven siblings were rearedby her widowed mother survivingextremes of weather, poverty, theGreat Depression, Prohibition,and the Dust Bowl. Married in1938, she and her husband hadno choice but to leave home forthe west coast in search of jobs. Asthe country struggled to overcomethe Depression and becameembroiled in World War II theytraveled where they found work,eventually settling in Oregon.Edie’s Story is a chronicle of herexperiences during those historictimes.
