L’écostylistique se concentre sur la manière dont les conditions environnementales façonnent les choix stylistiques des individus et des communautés. Cette discipline met l’accent sur l’importance de la variation stylistique en réponse aux changements écologiques. Par contre l’écopragmatique est une approche théorique qui examine comment les contextes écologiques influencent les pratiques de communication et les intentions pragmatiques des locuteurs. Les théories présentées montrent à suffisance comment les contraintes et les opportunités écologiques façonnent les interactions verbales et non verbales dans diverses situations. Ces disciplines peuvent être utilisées dans l’éducation, les médias et la communication environnementale.
