‌The Songs Of Chu‌ (Chuci) is the first comprehensive collection of romantic poetry in Chinese literary history, traditionally attributed to Qu Yuan as the creator of this innovative poetic form. It holds extraordinary significance in shaping China’s cultural system, particularly in literature, where it pioneered the romantic tradition. Later generations named this literary style the ‌'Chuci style'‌ or ‌'Saostyle'‌ (sao ti). Its influence permeates all four major literary genres-poetry, fiction, prose, and drama-to varying degrees. The academic study of The Songs Of Chu and its intellectual legacy, now termed ‌'Chuci Studies'‌ (Chuci xue), began in the Han dynasty, flourished in the Song era, and became a prominent field of classical research in modern times. The text spread to Japan and other Sinospheric regions as early as the High Tang period. By the 16th century, it reached Europe, and by the 19th century, it garnered widespread attention across the West. Translations and scholarly works in multiple languages proliferated, cementing The Songs Of Chu as a enduring focal point in international Sinology.作者简介Author Introduction任俊华,中央党校哲学部教授,兼任教育部研究生学位论文评议专家,北京大学中国文化发展研究中心《北大中国文化研究》编委‌Ren Junhua‌, Professor at the School of Philosophy, Central Party School, concurrently serves as an Expert Reviewer for Graduate Degree Theses under the Ministry of Education and an Editorial Committee Member of Peking University Journal of Chinese Cultural Studies (Beida Zhongguo Wenhua Yanjiu) at Peking University’s Research Center for Chinese Cultural Development. Li Zhaohui‌, Postdoctoral Researcher and Research Fellow at the Huamin Charity Foundation.
