Die seit 1975176 in der klinischen Diagnostik eingesetzte Ganzk6r­ percomputertomographie hat einen gewissen Entwicklungsend­ punkt erreicht. Aus diesem Grunde erschienen in den letzten lahren folgerichtig etliche Lehrbticher, die sich mit dem Einsatz der Computertomographie beschiiftigt haben. In diesem Zusam­ menhang m6chten wir an die ausgezeichneten und ftir den klinisch Wigen Radiologen hilfreichen Bticher von Kazner et al. (1981), Baert et al. (1980), Friedmann et al. (1981), Htibener (1981) und schlieBlich an das ausgezeichnete systematische Lehrbuch von Wegener (1981) erinnern. Durch den Einsatz von Kontrastmitteln kann bei vielen Fragestel­ lungen eine h6here diagnostische Aussage erreicht werden. Schon kurz nach Einfiihrung der Computertomographie wurde deutlich, daB durch Kontrastmittel die diagnostische Wertigkeit, v. a. im Hirnbereich verbessert werden kann. Ein eindrucksvolles wissenschaftliches Symposion tiber die Anwendung von Kontrastmitteln in der Computertomographie fand 1981 in Berlin unter der Leitung von R. Felix, E. Kazner und O. H. Wegener statt, wo zahlreiche Kolleginnen und Kollegen aus den USA und Europa die Bedeutung der Kontrastmittelanwen­ dung ftir die einzelnen Organe und Organbereiche hervorhoben.
