“Dragonspawn Awakening” is the highly anticipated second installment in The Dragonspawn Trilogy. As the magii’ri Warriors and Wizards return to Norland they discover Timon’s power has grown despite his near defeat on the Isle of Serpents. He has allied himself with Dark Wizards and creatures of the Dark to initiate the Wilding, a curse designed to wreak havoc on Norland. With their resources stretched to the limit, the magii’ri are forced to actually create the Dragonspawn, a magical and physical blending of an ultimate Warrior and a Dragon. As the Wilding becomes stronger the fabric of Time becomes more wrinkled, and the magii’ri realize their homeland of Norland could cease to exist. The Dragonspawn, disguised by the Wizard Mathias as a young boy named Jacob Grimwullf, grows to maturity and begins to realize his potential. But as his powers grow so does his doubt and disillusion with the magii’ri and he realizes he may have more in common with Dragons than with people.

Stuart Evans’s first novel is a comedy-of-ill-manners set in a nouveau riche milieu: a fantastic satirical performance and hyper-referential homage to masters past and present. Paul Keller is the Stephen Dedalus of the piece, the son of Robert and Sylvie, whose internal monologue is spliced into the action, and whose incestuous feelings for his sister lead to an increase in his...
