Cavrin Ransom and his best friend, Emily Roz, are only ten years old when they experience an odd encounter out by the caves. Cavrin is convinced they had come in contact with a dragon while Emily is still skeptical. He does all he can to meet the dragon but obstacles keep getting in his way, including his fear of magic. Cavrin blames his mother’s death on magic so anything of magic, including dragons, makes him wary. As Cavrin waits for his opportunity to return to the cave, he meets strangers in town that know a lot about the dragon’s legacy. The strangers, a mission team called the Wayfaring Company, tell him he is not the only one interested in finding the dragon. The magicians of White Rim have an interest in the dragon, her magic, and much to his surprise, Cavrin’s younger sister. Cavrin is taken through a series of adventures. He learns the importance of magic, the mystery of his town, and what it takes to stir the fire of a dragon. With the help of Mr. Azar, the leader of the Wayfaring Company; Cavrin and Emily defend a magical creature from the hungry world of magic seekers.
