Dr. Ilyas Ishqi was a prominent Persian and Urdu poet, writer, translator, broadcaster and critic from Pakistan. He received his PhD degree by writing a thesis on the influence of the West on Urdu poetry. He was associated with Radio Pakistan for a long time and retired as Controller of Programmes. Dr. Ilyas Ishqi’s literary journey spans five to six decades and in this long journey, he found new ways of literature and research. Apart from Urdu and English, he also worked in regional languages ​​of Pakistan./ڈاکٹر الیاس عشقی پاکستان سے تعلق رکھنے والے فارسی اور اردو کے ممتاز شاعر، ادیب، مترجم، براڈکاسٹر اور نقاد تھے۔ انہوں نے اُردو شاعری پر مغرب کے اثرات پر مقالہ لکھ کر پی ایچ ڈی کی ڈگری حاصل کی تھی۔ وہ طویل عرصے تک ریڈیو پاکستان سے وابستہ رہے اور کنٹرولر آف پروگرامز کے عہدے سے ریٹائر ہوئے۔ ڈاکٹر الیاس عشقی کا ادبی سفر پانچ سے چھے عشروں پر محیط ہے اور اس طویل سفر میں انہوں نے ادب و تحقیق کی نِت نئی راہیں تلاش کیں۔ اُنہوں نے اُردو اور انگریزی کے علاوہ پاکستان کی علاقائی زبانوں میں بھی کام کیا۔
